"Sarchu (11500+ ftabove sea level) is kind of mid-way on Manali - Leh Route (220 kms from Manali and 255 kms from Leh) and therefore most suitable for a transit stay. Sarchu area is remote and camps are setup here during June-Sept period to serve transit travellers. Sarchu area is a plateau and is blessed with exceptional Himalayan Beauty."

The Himalayan Camp is located at Sarchu, 222 kms from Manali on the Leh highway. The camp is located on the main Sarchu camp grounds and is being operated from 2016 onwards every year from 10 June to 20 Sep.

10 Swiss Cottage tents

These tents are stitched out of canvas which is wind & water proof. The inside of tent has a lining of printed cloth. The tents have living area of 12 x 12 feet and attached toilet an area of 4 x 12 feet. The tents are fitted with twin beds and a chair/ table. The cot inside the tent is provided with a cotton mattress, pillow, bed sheet, polyfil quilt and a blanket. The attached toilets have specially designed western seat & wash basin fitting with running cold water. Hot water if required can be provided in a bucket (most of guests prefer not to take bath at Sarchu).

Dinning tent

The dinning tent has an area of 16 x 33 feet and is fitted with about 25 covers which can be increased in case of extra chairs required. We serve a choice of Indian/ Chinese/ Continental dishes (as per menu or preferred by group leader) and meals to groups are laid down in a buffet. Lunches are mostly packed and may consist of items as preferred by the guests. The dinning tent is served with our own kitchen managed by an experienced high altitude cook and attendants.

Electricity back up

Since, Sarchu does not have any electricity, our camp has own gen set which provides electrical power required. The gen set operates as soon as it gets dark in evening till the guests have their dinner & go to sleep in their cozy tents and again in mornings for departure.

There are multiple ways to reach Dehradun.

By Air:Jolly Grant Airport is the airport serving Dehradun, located about 25 km from the city. There is a daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun. Flights: Jet Airways, Air India, Indigo; ticket cost: 2500 Rs (approx.) One Way

By Road:By road, Dehradun is well connected with major destinations of the country. NH72 connects Dehradun to Nahan (95 km) to the north-west, and thereon to Panchkula, Chandigarh and Shimla. NH 72 terminates at Haridwar, which is at 54km from Dehradun. Dehradun is located at a distance of 235 km from Delhi. NH72A links Dehra Dun to NH58 at Roorkee (67 km) and thereon south to Meerut (170 km) and Delhi (235 km). There is regular bus service from Delhi for Dehradun from Delhi ISBT Kashmere Gate. From Jaipur,Super Luxury Roadways takes 10 hrs (departure 20:15 PM- Rs 1650) for booking log on https://rsrtconline.rajasthan.gov.in/ticket_booking/bussearch
There are private and government operated Overnight buses are available from New Delhi. These take almost 13 hrs and cost 700 Rs per pax.

By Train:An excellent rail network connects Dehradun to other important cities like Delhi, Mussoorie, Mumbai, Varanasi, Lucknow, and Kolkata. From Delhi- DDN NZM AC EXPRESS (2205). It costs approx. 550 Rs per Pax.
