General Information About TRIUND AND LAKA GLACIER

Triund trek is one of the popular weekend treks in Dhauladhar range. Triund trek starts from Mcleodganj and further can be extended up to Indrahar Pass Trek. The entire triund trek is full of thrilling adventures for the first time trekkers in the Himalayas and all the experiences are rewarding. During pre-monsoon period(March to June) the glacier is full of snow but from July onward the glacier starts to melt and recede back and during post monsoon period there is no snow at the glacier and you only see the moraine(the remnants of Glacier). The entire triund trek is full of thrilling adventures for the first time trekkers in the Himalayas and all the experiences are rewarding.In the night, gaze at the milky way, as the silence of millions of stars above the Himalayas hums you to sleep. The easy four hour Triund trek takes you 9500 feet high, to a large green pasture that gets blanketed by snow in the winters, and offers panoramic views: of the mighty Dhauladhar Himalayas; and the encompassing valleys of Mcleodganj, Bhagsu, Dharamsala and Kangr

Itinerary

After arrival at Bus stand. Our representative leads you to Hotel. Have breakfast and some 2-3 hrs rest at Hotel/ upper guest house. Afternoon city tour of Dharamsala visiting H.H. Dalai Lama Temple, and Norbulingka (a Tibetan center for learning and preserving traditional art and craft).Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 01

Day 02

After breakfast at Hotel, start walking from Bhagsu Nag. It is steep ascent for 4 hours through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees to Triund. Packed lunch enroute. Triund is an alpine meadow situated on top of a ridge from where we have superb view of the peaks of Dhauladhar Mountain on one side and Kangra valley on the other. Overnight stay in tent.Dinner with bonfire in the evening.

Day 03

After breakfast at Triund walk further uptoLaka got. The trail traverses along the glacial moraine to reach an open meadow at laka got, a temporary shepherd encampment. Laka got is situated at the snout of a small glacier called Laka glacier which is full of snow from March to June and the snow start to melt away with the monsoon and during post monsoon there is now snow.

Day 04

After breakfast at camp you walk down. There is a possibility of taking a different route on the way back which is steep downhill via Laheta village. Reach Bhagsu Nag for lunch. End of the Trek.
