The ride will start early morning to avoid the Delhi traffic. Mandawa is a small town at the beginning of the Thar Desert. Relaxing walk in the town and visiting few ‘Havilies’ will be a pleasure. In and around Mandawa After breakfast, drive to Mandawa. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Later, proceed for sightseeing of Mandawa known as the `open-air art gallery` of Rajasthan. The Goenka Double Haveli, an epitome of grandiose founded by Rajput Merchants in the 18th century and Murmuria Haveli, a beautifully-designed for dating back to 1930s, are also famous here. Today you are going to pass through old ‘Shekhawati’ region. Here you witness the old havelis and well. You will ride through the desert on this day. Built in 1588 by Raja Rai Singh, it is unusual in the sense that it was one of the few major forts of Rajasthan that was not built on a hilltop. You will go back to the hotel and relax. Overnight at the hotel. Today, you will ride for approximately five hours.
Post breakfast, you are going to begin your bike journey towards Jaisalmer, fondly called the `Golden City` of Rajasthan. During your motorbike ride, you are going to drive past small tiny rustic villages that are located amidst the vast Thar, sheltered by deep blue sky. You would also come across gypsy caravans and wild camels along the desert road. Late evening arrival in Jaisalmer. On arrival, complete the check-in formalities at the hotel. Agra to New Delhi
Take the morning flight for Leh. Our representative will lead you to the hotel and relax for the complete day. This is necessary for getting acclimatized. Overnight at the guest house.
On this day you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area. Shey Gompa is about 15 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of Stupas and Gompas built around the palace. Thiksey Gompa, close to Shey is about 17 kms from Leh.
The trek traditionally starts at the bridge over the indus about a kilometer west of Spituk Village. Our walk begins along an old jeepable on very dry and exposed land, so water and protection against the sun are important! After 2 hours the landscape becomes greener as we go into the Zingchen Valley, where the Rumbak River flows into the Indus. Our camp is in the small village of Zingchen, which means ‘big field’, where there are just two houses.
Today we enter Hemis National Park, home to the famous Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Ladakhi Urial (a type of goat), great Tibetan sheep (Arghali), red fox, Tibetan wolf, wild dog (dhole), Lynx, marmot and mountain hare. We start to climb gradually up to village of Rumbak.
Today may be difficult day on the trek, as in the morning after breakfast you will ascend the 4,900-m. Stok Pass also known as the Namlung La. If you are fit and have camped at the plateau just under the pass as all do, you should have no problem climbing up to the pass. One can climb steadily and made it in less than 1.5 hrs. From the campsite walk less than ½ hrs and on your right you will find zigzagging mountain terrain.
Today is an easy day going downhill all the way. Follow the stream on its left bank as it heads north. The path is vast and easy. You will find willows and wild roses growing on islands in the middle of the stream which grows quite wide as you approach Stok. Visit the Stok Palace, residence of the king of Ladakh. The trail follows the Markha river now, and will do so for the next few days.
Transfer to the airport for the spectacular flight across the main chain of the Himalaya to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to domestic airport to catch the flight for onward destination
